Colors of the Rainbow is an ode to love and the rainbow – Aphrodite, Eros and Iris. From the dawn of time mankind has told stories about the creation of the world. The stories of the Greek gods trace their origins back thousands of years and often exist in many different forms. The inspiration comes from authors, like Hesiod, who describe Eros as a primordial god, but he is best known as the god of love, by the Roman name Amor.
In addition, ancient deities and mythological creatures were often unusual. Anything that was out of the ordinary – queer – thus belonged to another world, being godlike or supernatural. In this light, the rainbow takes on yet another meaning, being the symbol of the goddess Iris, messenger of the gods, who connected the distant worlds of gods and men. Now the rainbow of course represents diversity, the entire spectrum of being queer. The world certainly would be nothing without love and all the colors of the rainbow, which crosses all boundaries.
