Icelandic gays flirted with the soldiers at Hotel Borg back in the days. Later on the lesbians hid at Stúdentakjallarinn (the Student Cellar) but eventually the drag scene started to bloom at Rauða Myllan (our very own Moulin Rouge). Sometimes the queer nightlife has been hidden, and sometimes it has been out and loud.
If you want to hear more about our queer nightlife in the past decades you should join us on the very first Icelandic queer pub crawl. We will walk around a few of our historical places and hear stories but of course we‘ll have something to drink as well, which is included in the admission fee. Our approximately 2,5 hours journey starts at Hlemmur at 6 p.m. and ends at Naustið, which is around the corner from the Old Harbour where our Queer Cruise starts at 9 p.m.
Tour in Icelandic.
