The ban on mass gatherings will in all likelihood prevent Reykjavík Pride, the city’s largest festival, from taking place in the usual way this August.
At a minimum there will be no Pride Parade on Saturday, August 8. This is of course a great disappointment — yet the directors of Reykjavík Pride will emphasize bringing as much of the Pride program as possible to the public.
Just four months remain until Pride Week arrives, and that time will be used to find ways to reach as many as possible with our goals of visibility, the fight for equality, and education on queer matters.
Reykjavik Pride won’t forget the joy even though it won’t always be possible to congregate in real life.
Hold true to the Pride spirit and together we’ll find solutions!
