Gays and lesbians lived in silence and fear in Iceland for the better part of the 20th century. Local songwriter and actor Hordur Torfason was the first to come out publicly in an interview in 1975 which caused an uproar in Iceland. This interview marks the beginning of the struggle for civil rights for gays and lesbians.
People like that is a documentary by Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir focusing on Icelandic gays and lesbians battle for human rights from 1975 to our days.
