The City of Reykjavik

Reykjavík is so much more than just a destination; it’s a place of exciting possibilities surrounded by incredible landscapes, where countless adventures beckon and a host of natural wonders await.

“Reykjavik is very proud of its LGBT community and has become quite the beacon of rainbow coloured light in the past few years. Reykjavík city is extremely proud of its fabulous Pride festivities, which have been putting a spectacular sparkle in the month of August ever since its first outing in the year 1999. A huge, merry and colourful flotilla parades through the centre of town followed by grand outdoor concert attended by over one hundred thousand people – lesbians and gay men, bisexuals and transgender people, friends, relatives, fellow citizens and numerous foreign visitors – all showing solidarity with the gay cause in August every year!”

Icelandair, the only Iceland-based carrier, might be your best bet for a direct and affordable flight to Iceland but other airlines do provide direct flights from Iceland to Europe and America (e.g. EasyJet, Norwegian, Delta, Wizz, etc). Keflavik airport is the nearest international airport to Reykjavik.

Multiple car rentals operate from Keflavik airport and from the city of Reykjavik. If you want to rent a car and cover more ground during your stay in Iceland, you can for example visit Guide to Iceland for more information.

If you are looking for a place to stay our proud sponsors at Icelandair Hotels and Canopy (by Hilton) Reykjavik City Centre will be pleased to accommodate you. Other options can be easily found, for example via booking.com or airbnb.com.

To make the most of your stay in Iceland we highly recommend all tours provided by our friends at Pink Iceland, which are the only LGBT+ travel specialists and wedding planners in Reykjavik. We also encourage you to check out the whale watching tours operated by our proud sponsor Elding – adventures at sea.
