Procedures for the Allocation of Operational Funds from the Pride Parade Fund of Reykjavík Pride and Landsbankinn
Article 1
Reykjavík Pride is a non-profit organization based in Reykjavík. Every year, the organization holds a LGBTQ+ cultural, human rights, and diversity festival in Reykjavík. All those who wish to work for the causes of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as their organizations, are welcome to participate in the collaboration committee of Reykjavík Pride. The board of the organization and the collaboration committee work together to plan the festival each year.
The goal of Reykjavík Pride includes organizing an annual LGBTQ+ festival and parade, promoting the growth and prosperity of LGBTQ+ culture and social life, and cultivating relationships with international LGBTQ+ pride movements.
Article 2
The goal of allocating operational funds from the Pride Parade Fund is to support the implementation of ideas.
The Pride Parade Fund is a collaborative project between Reykjavík Pride and Landsbankinn, which has been a long-time sponsor of the event. The grant amounts provided from the fund range from 100,000 to 500,000 ISK, and are awarded to individuals and/or groups wishing to organize diverse, creative, and meaningful entries for the Reykjavík Pride Parade. Each year, a specific theme is highlighted in the festival’s program, and when allocating funds, efforts are made to support entries that are connected to the theme in some way.
Article 3
When allocating operational funds, the following aspects will be considered:
- The message of the entry
- The cultural value of the entry
- The connection of the entry to the theme of the year
- The originality, entertainment value, and diversity of the entry
- Different political directions and movements
Applications will also be assessed based on the participation and safety rules of the Reykjavík Pride Parade.
Article 4
Applications must be announced no later than June. Electronic applications should be submitted through the Reykjavík Pride website, www.hinsegindagar.is, and applications will be processed in July.
The board of Reykjavík Pride will appoint a judging committee for the Pride Parade Fund, consisting of representatives from the festival’s board, the parade’s organizing committee, and external members. The committee will review the applications and present the Reykjavík Pride board with recommendations for grants. The board will review and confirm the recommendations before grants are awarded by the end of July.
The operational funds from the Pride Parade Fund should match the total contributions of the sponsors to the fund. However, the judging committee has the authority to withhold up to 200,000 ISK to be awarded as incentive prizes after the festival. Incentive prizes are given to an individual or group that has notably drawn attention to the message of their entry during the Reykjavík Pride Parade. It is not permitted to award incentive prizes to those who have already received grants from the Pride Parade Fund that year.
Article 5
Those who receive operational funds from the Pride Parade Fund must sign an agreement outlining the responsibilities and obligations of the grant recipients.
Approved by the board of Reykjavík Pride on June 26, 2017.
